What is Notes from Lantern House?
Notes from Lantern House is a reader-supported newsletter by me, Casey Dienel (they/them). This is my face.
I’m a producer, songwriter, and former White Hinterland frontperson. The newsletter features personal essays and offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative process. Think of each issue as a postcard reflecting on music, gardening, art, queerness… Basically, it’s about a little bit of everything, really.
How often do you publish?
Monthly, sometimes bi-monthly, time permitting. If I take a long sabbatical, I pause paid subscriptions. Basically, I will not be cluttering up your inbox. Promise.
How much is a subscription, and what do I get?
Free subscribers get access to the latest issues, which remain public for 4 weeks before they go behind the paywall.
Paid subscriptions start at $5 per month (the price of a nice coffee), or $60/year, and they are awesome because they:
Unseal access to the full archive, personal voice memos, and other surprise announcements (coming soon….!)
Give the most insight into what I’m mulling over, including songs in progress. If you like learning how the sausage get’s made like I do, you’ll dig it.
Support the continued work of this newsletter, from research to design to sourcing other resources/writing/articles I think you’ll enjoy.
Connect you with a curious community of people interested in all the subjects touched on above—and it’s nice to have a place on the internet that feels good and doesn’t suck, you know? A rarity these days.
Where else can I find you?
Yes, you can find me on Spotify and Apple Music and Bandcamp.
Instagram is for the team’s use; I’m trying to stay off there. Read more about why here.
Who’s writing this stuff again?
Me (Casey Dienel). Send me a message below! I read every message and do my best to reply to each one.
